AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
• The Accra Girls’ Vocational Institute is established to prepare students for a better life with a three year comprehensive practical training in very useful trades and skills.
• It seeks to provide sound practical training in womanhood.
• It also seeks to impart to her students sound moral and spiritual values.
• The Institute aims at inculcating in the students a high sense of civic responsibility through community participation in its activities.

COURSE DURATION:
The Catering course is of three (3) academic years duration and cover subjects laid down by the NATIONAL VOCATIONAL TRAINING INSTITUTE (N V T I) ,GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE ( G E S) AND NATIONAL BOARD FOR PROFESSIONAL AND TECHNICIAN EXAMINATIONS (NABPTEX)
NOTE: Due to the high cost of living and scarcity of commodities, the school has found it difficult to take up the responsibility of supplying students with the necessary commodities. Therefore, students are required to provide their own tools equipments and ingredients for practical while the school provides equipments and ingredients necessary for demonstration purposes i. e. teaching aids.

ADVANCED COURSE:
Students who wish to further their studies upon successful completion of their course can enroll for the G E S 812/2 (Advanced Catering).

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
Interested Girls must have at least the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) or Senior High School Certificate Examination (SSSCE) or WASSCE.
Academic year runs as follows: IST TERM: SEPTEMBER – DECEMBER 2ND TERM: JANUARY - APRIL 3RD TERM: MAY - JULY

Examinations
FIRST YEAR: Internal Examination for all students.
SECOND YEAR: Students sit for both practical and core (subjects) exam (NVTI foundation)
THIRD YEAR: Students sit for NVTI certificate 1, G E S (certificate 2) and NABPTEX exams.

REGULATION FOR THE PAYMENT OF SCHOOL FEES
1. Fees are paid termly either in advance or at beginning of the term.
2. Where pupils will be absent for a full academic year and parents wish places kept, fees must be paid in full for the period of absence: otherwise pupils will be considered as new entrants and admitted when a vacancy occurs on payment of a new admission fee.
3. A term’s written notice is required on withdrawal. If no such notice is given, a term’s fees must be paid in lieu thereof. Exception to this rule may be made at the discretion of the Principal if withdrawal is made necessary by unforeseen circumstances; in any case, written notice must be given as soon as plans are known.
4. Fees once paid are not refundable in the event of a pupil being expelled or in any other circumstances.
5. The Directors of the school reserves the right to raise the scale of fees during the course of the school year.
